Meet Reggie! Reggie is a 20-year-old Warmblood gelding that presented in early February for a facial laceration. On examination at the clinic, we found he had a maxillary bone (upper jaw) fracture at the site of the laceration that had displaced into his maxillary sinus. Dr. Karen Blake removed the fractured piece of bone and cleaned up his sinus prior to repairing the wound. After multiple lavages (flushing) of his sinus cavity, we sent him home with his attentive owner, who cared for him perfectly. Here are pictures of his cool facial bandage after surgery, as well as photos after we removed his sutures. We think he might still have a career in modeling!
