Autologous bone-marrow-derived stem cell therapy uses your horse’s own stem cells to treat musculoskeletal diseases. We harvest a bone marrow sample from the horse’s sternum or pelvis and send it to a lab that cultures the cells. We then use these cells to treat a variety of conditions, including tendonitis, desmitis (ligament inflammation), osteoarthritis, and osteochondrosis (OCD) defects. Stem cells are injected directly into the site of the area that requires treatment, where they then develop into new cells of the desired tissue type to help in repair.
