If so, you might be the right fit for Bend Equine Medical Center. We are currently seeking an exceptional Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our team.
Your day will be an adventure. In this role you will be a:
- Vital part of our care team: You will play an integral role in helping your assigned doctor get through their day both in the hospital and in the field. You will be their right-hand person and be involved in all that makes up their day. You will be a needed and necessary part of the treatment team.
- Pro planner: Start by prepping the treatment room or packing your farm truck for appointments. Gather all the equipment and supplies you’ll need to work efficiently, ensuring smooth sailing throughout the day.
- Horse handler: You’ll be a crucial part of our veterinary care team, handling horses securely and safely for examinations throughout the day.
- Mobile medic: Pack our ambulatory vehicles with everything needed for the day’s farm calls, becoming a mobile lifeline for horses in need. You will also unpack and restock upon returning to the hospital.
- Inventory expert: Keep our ambulatory vehicles and hospital well-equipped. You’ll restock used materials and identify missing supplies, ensuring we’re always ready to roll.
- Lab whiz (when needed): Process blood samples and run or send out necessary tests if our pharmacy technician is unavailable.
- Pharmacy helper (when needed): When our pharmacy technician is busy, you’ll fill prescriptions from appointments to keep vital treatments flowing.
- Cleanliness champion: Maintaining impeccable organization and hygiene is key! Ensure both vehicles and the hospital stay clean, fueling vehicles and contributing to general upkeep.
- Tech-savvy assistant: Support our veterinarians by assisting with computerized medical notes and invoicing.
- Equipment caretaker: Clean and store equipment after use, ensuring everything is ready for the next adventure and our equipment stays safe.
- Team player: You’ll work alongside a great team that collaborates and understands how to jump in and help anyone with anything to get through our busy days.
Are you the horse enthusiast we’re searching for? You are if you have:
- A genuine passion for horses and their well-being
- Experience working with horses in a veterinary setting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- The ability to work independently and take initiative
- Physical stamina to lift up to 40 pounds, spend most of the day on your feet, and perform occasional and brief jogging for lameness evaluations
- A positive attitude and a dedication to providing compassionate care
