Are you an experienced and passionate equine practitioner committed to excellence, but ready for a change?

We are seeking an ER clinician for Monday through Thursday nights and every 4th or 5th weekend.

What if you could:

  • Break the equine practitioner paradigm of a six-day work week and burning the candle at both ends?
  • Live and practice in the high desert, mountain town of Bend, Oregon, one of the most beautiful parts of the country?
  • Enjoy time outside of work with your family, partner, horse, or just doing whatever feeds your soul outside of work, while trusting your colleagues to cover cases in your absence competently?
  • Live and play in this amazing place, and be part of a harmonious and collegial work culture dedicated to providing exceptional equine health care with a great staff and a workplace culture based around teamwork?
  • Have a four-day work week with a light to moderate emergency caseload?

This position covers both in-hospital ERs and ambulatory ERs within a 45-minute radius. Schedule is 4:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. (on-site not required), with backup provided by a veterinary intern as well as overnight hospital staffing and surgeon/internist. Cases are transferred to a colleague the next morning. Weekend ER (Friday night through Monday morning) duty rotates amongst four to five clinicians.

We communicate as a group daily and trust, respect, and support one another. Knowledge sharing and each doctor’s continued journey to strive for excellence and fulfillment in practice are key tenets for us, as is mentoring our externs and interns. We work diligently to ensure the short-term and long-term health and well-being of all our staff.

Be the change! You’d become part of a nine-doctor, two-intern, mostly equine practice, offering equine primary and referral care both in-house and on an ambulatory basis, with a well-equipped hospital and a small call radius. Our practice has been serving Central Oregon for more than 25 years, and we have established a reputation for providing excellent care, professionalism, and fostering collegial relationships with our esteemed referring veterinarians. Check out what our clients have to say about us on our Google reviews! (And by the way, we have incredible clients, too.)

If you are an experienced equine practitioner with a passion and talent for high-quality general practice, we’d love to hear from you. We’d ideally prefer someone with advanced training/experience in emergency care or surgery; an ECC diplomat would be an excellent fit, as would a surgeon, or any clinician with hospital and in-depth ER experience who has the bandwidth for providing emergency/urgent care, including lacerations, colics, neonate care, and enjoys working as a team.

Our recent ER clinician is relocating due to marriage and would be happy to speak with potential candidates to give a first-hand perspective on the position.
