Veterinarian and Shareholder
Dr. Wendy Krebs joined Bend Equine Medical Center in 2002 and became a shareholder in 2008. Originally from the Wilsonville and Canby area of Oregon, she got her first pony at the age of 2. As a child and young adult, she competed first in 4-H and then in eventing through the Preliminary level. She knew she wanted to be an equine veterinarian from a young age.
Dr. Krebs graduated with honors from the University of Oregon with a degree in biology and a minor in biochemistry. After earning her dual DVM degrees from Oregon State University and Washington State University, she completed a 12-month postgraduate internship in equine surgery, internal medicine, reproduction, and dentistry at BEMC in 2003. She then completed a four-year American College of Veterinary Surgeons surgical residency program, also at BEMC.
As an exclusively equine veterinarian for more than two decades, and a competitor and horse owner for more than 40 years, she understands equine athletes’ needs. She strives to help maintain horses at their peak comfort and ability while supporting their overall health, well being, and partnership with their riders.
Dr. Krebs is a U.S. Dressage Federation Bronze Medalist (meaning she’s earned qualifying scores through 3rd Level) and currently trains and competes her Warmblood-cross gelding, Jose, in upper-level dressage. She also enjoys trail riding and horse camping. She spends most of what is left of her time working with her husband, Brant, and their two children, Finn and Aven, on their ranch in Tumalo, where they raise hay and care for 10-plus horses and a variety of other livestock. She also occasionally enjoys painting, traveling, cooking, and almost any outdoor activity.
